Job Summary
Augusta University invites expressions of interest and nominations for the position of Dean of the College of Allied Health Sciences. Augusta University seeks a visionary, entrepreneurial, and collaborative leader who will play a central role in shaping the success, growth, and future of the College. The dean will lead efforts in promoting excellence in student learning, research/scholarship, teaching, and community engagement; attract external resources and fundraise; prioritize enrollment growth; and support the university's leadership role as Georgia's public health care center.
Its 11 colleges, offer over 160 degrees across four campuses and off-site instructional locations throughout Georgia. More than 2000 faculty provide exceptional instruction, mentorship, and education experiences to nearly 13,000 students both inside and beyond the classroom.
Responsibilities
The Dean will be the chief executive of the College and will lead the College in the development and support of strong educational, research, and clinical programs appropriate to the College's mission. The Dean will also be responsible for implementing University and College policies, overseeing all support services for the College and addressing the needs of students, faculty and staff. The Dean will foster the establishment of strategic goals of the College, coordinating the departments to achieve the College's mission in alignment with the initiatives to continue to advance research, patient care and academic programs.
In addition, the Dean will be a strong advocate for the College and will provide the vision and leadership to represent the College effectively in a complex health sciences and comprehensive university environment. The Dean will have budgetary authority and will be instrumental in recruiting outstanding faculty, students, and staff. The Dean reports directly to the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost.
Required Qualifications
The ideal candidate will bring a record of distinguished academic leadership, research/scholarship, service, and/or teaching. An earned doctoral degree in a related discipline, relevant academic administrative experience, and a record of scholarly achievement commensurate with an appointment at the rank of Professor with tenure at the time of appointment.
Professor- senior-level career faculty member with 10 or more years of experience in related field to include five years at the rank of Associate Professor or comparable training, background, and experience. Per Board of Regents (BOR) policy, Professors must have a terminal degree.
