The Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University is seeking a part time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor to support the predoctoral program in the Department of Restorative Sciences. This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.
Abilities Patient care; inter professional collaboration, curriculum organization, implementation and student mentoring and assessment.
Knowledge All aspects of clinical dentistry related to the Department of Restorative Science sin support learning, scholarship, patient care and service.
Skills All aspects of clinical dentistry. All relevant organization, communication as oral health clinician, educator, and scholar in support of Restorative Sciences.
Responsibilities
Teaching - 98% Support clinical learning for students, faculty and peers in didactic, laboratory, and/or clinical settings using best evidence. Supervise and mentor students/residents with oral health care in DMD, and/or Advanced Education Programs (PROS; based on credentials). Develop, administer and provide informal/formal student performance assessment. Support program didactics.
Service - 2% Obtain committee appointments both within the DCG and campus-wide. Complete necessary training required by the department, the DCG, and AU.
Required Qualifications
US DDS/DMD degree or foreign equivalent. State of Georgia dental license or State of Georgia Faculty Dental License.
Assistant Professor - Early level career as a faculty member with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements.
Associate Professor - Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements.
Professor - Senior level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor with background, education, and training consistent with the following position requirements.
Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:
Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;
Evidence of ability as a teacher;
Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;
Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,
Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications
Expertise in advanced technologies, digital workflow, including dental implants. Prior experience in dental education with demonstrated ability to work productively in didactic and clinical educational environments. Clinical operations experience.
Shift/Salary/Benefits
Part-Time: This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. Amount of time worked is based on work commitment.
The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is 0.20 and is not benefits eligible.
Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Associate Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.
Rank and salary are determined at the time of hire and are based on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, education, credentials, specialty, training, etc. while also considering internal equity and market data.
Participation in the Georgia Defined Contribution Plan is mandatory for part-time and temporary employees. The Georgia Defined Contribution Plan is a retirement plan for part-time employees who work less than 50% and for temporary employees. Members contribute 7 1/2% of gross salary to the plan.
